Pondicherry

The coastal city of Pondicherry, or Puducherry, is a Union Territory of India and is not actually a part of Tamil Nadu, though it is surrounded by it on three sides. This fascinating city used to be French colony and its French heritage is readily apparent, including in the language spoken! Visit the Promenade, Paradise Beach, the Auroville Matrimandir or the Pondicherry Museum. There is much do do in this charming city.
