Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad is the largest city in Gujarat and is an economic and industrial hub. Visit the Calico Museum of Textiles or the Jama Masjid which is a remanent of Gujarat’s rich Mughal heritage. Also worth seeing is the Kamla Nehru Zoological Garden or the pink sandstone Akshardham Temple just outside the city.

Rani Ki Vav

Rani Ki Vav, or the Queen’s Stepwell, is found in the town of Patan which is actually not far from the Modhera Sun Temple. This mesmerizing stepwell has seven layers and was built in the 11th century. This unrivaled piece of architecture is well worth the journey to see.

National Parks

Gujarat is one of the last homes of the Asiatic Lion. Travelers can catch a glimpse of these rare lions as well as other unique forms of wildlife such as the Blackbuck (also known as the Indian Antelope). Visit Gir National Park, Velavadar Blackbuck National Park or Marine National Park. Hikers may also enjoy exploring Polo Forest or the Kutch Region’s desert landscape.

Beaches

After seeing Gujarat’s historical sites, bustling cities and hiking through the national parks, travelers need a place to rest and recuperate. There is no better place than the beach.
